Our most thorough sludge project. Worked with real data measured at the plant itself, not with design values from documentation.
What was done
- The actual sludge figures before and after dewatering were recorded.
- The operation of the working centrifuge and its regime were examined.
- The polymers in use, their dosing rates and the scope for optimisation were reviewed.
- The option of additional dewatering with a screw press was evaluated.
- A press trial under real conditions was organised, with delivery and a supervisor from the manufacturer.
- Drying, carbonisation, thermal treatment and phosphorus recovery were compared.
- A complete configuration of the required equipment was sought.
- Input data for the techno-economic assessment and the business plan were collected.
EKOTANK's role
- Initiator and lead of the study. We collected the data, carried out the technical analysis and brought three separate European manufacturers around one task.
- The German partners confirmed in writing the division of roles and EKOTANK's intended part in the implementation.
